Quick, call the police!

It all started last night, when I forgot to plug my low-on-battery phone in to charge.  I woke up this morning, realized I forgot, and quickly plugged it in for the 40 minutes before we left for school.  My phone already has an issue with staying alive even when it fully charges all night, so I knew going to school with it only 1/4 charged was going to be a problem.

I also knew my battery wouldn't allow me to play bejeweled in between classes.  I accidentally played for 10 minutes.  Woops!

The day pressed forward.  I performed with my tap class in front of a small portion of the school at lunch time.  That was fun yet a little embarrassing because I wasn't totally in love with our dance and song choice.  The cloggers totally showed us up :).

2:00 rolled around and I headed to the stat lab to study for my test.  I saw Dustin on gmail chat and we chatted and distracted each other from our work for a bit.  We had a lovely conversation about what we could look forward to when we got home....Jell-O for me, egg bagel for him, and a short episode of our show to unwind.  We were thrilled and recommitted ourselves to finish fast so we could get home.  I then thought about my quickly dying phone and decided to figure out a plan in case he couldn't get a hold of me.  The rest of the convo went like this...

(By the way I was expecting a friend at 2:50 to study with.  She was an hour late and wasn't able to tell me because my phone was dead lol)
(And "me" is Dustin)

2:55 PM Moriah: if my phone dies i'll be at the top of the stairs going down to the RB at 4ish....
I hope we won't go longer than that but she's not here yet

5 minutes
3:01 PM Moriah: still not here
 me: ok
ill be on this the whole time so ill plan on meeting with you at 4 at the top of the stairs, unless you say something different through chat
3:02 PM bc you might have to stay longer if she is still not there
  sorry shes late!
3:03 PM Moriah: ok sounds good!
so ya if i'm still on here, i'm still at the lab
 me: cool
if not cya at 4     The plan was perfectly clear!  My friend showed up, and we got working on our study guide.  4:00 comes and goes, and finally it is creeping up on 5:00.  My phone was completely dead but I am still signed onto gmail...which is supposed to tell Dustin I am in fact, still in the stat lab.  I tried to send him a quick little something, telling him that I'm almost done, but he was signed off.  I returned to my work.    I soon heard a whistle and I turned to find Dustin in the stat lab.  I had barely seen him all day and was so excited he showed up!  I called him over to meet my friend and to say hi but I could immediately tell he was upset.  He told me he'd be outside when I was finished.  I quickly finished and headed out to talk.  Here's what happened behind the scenes.  Somehow without my knowledge, my gmail had signed me off of chat!  Dustin remembered the plan to meet if I was offline and noticed that it was 4:00.  He packed up his things and waited for me at the top of the stairs.  He called, I didn't answer.    There is now nothing he can do to get a hold of me.  He waited in the freezing cold rain until 4:20.  At this point he went up to the packed stat lab to look for me, didn't see me!! And I didn't hear his whistle. This is unusual for us.  So he leaves the stat building, and walks down to my finance lab, thinking I had maybe stopped there for some last minute tutoring.  I wasn't there.  He went back to the stairs, now thinking we had missed each other and that maybe I had gone home to charge my phone so I could find him.   It is now 4:50 and he started to get thoughts that I was kidnapped.  Scenarios come into his mind of me getting to the car and being confronted by a man with a gun telling me to get in the car and drive.  Dustin started to panic.  Where could I be???  In a frenzy, he decided he was going to call the cops and report me as missing.  (I'm not sure if this is ridiculous but I assume him being tired, hungry, frustrated, and now scared had something to do with this decision).  Before he called, he figured he should check the stat lab one more time.   That is when I heard his whistle, turned, and greeted him with a big smile like nothing in the world could be wrong.    Isn't that a crazy story??  My poor Dustin.  I could have had the F.B.I/Police/S.W.A.T team out looking for me today.  I could have been on T.V.  If only I hadn't played that one game of bejeweled....:))).   Again, woops

My Knight in Shining Armor

Dustin did something really cute yesterday that I wanted to document.

I was going somewhere in the morning that I was already running late for.  I said goodbye to Dustin and ran out the door.  As I was approaching the car he yelled out our bedroom window (which he often likes to do), "Goodbye my LOOOVEEE!!!" in a funny accent...this is from the movie Dumb and Dumber.  I have never seen the movie but there are a few parts that Dustin finds hilarious.  This is one of them.  As he's yelling out the window and I'm smiling, secretly worrying that he's waking up the poor neighbors, I notice that the car was iced over from the night before.  "Oh no" I think, "there's ice on the car and I'm already running late..."  I may or may not have complained to myself while rushing to start the car and pull out the scraper.  I was able to scrape 1/2 of the first windshield when my Dustball comes bounding down the stairs with a determined look on his face.  He was quite the sight, fully equipped with a sweatshirt, ski pants, and....his Sunday shoes.   I was shocked at how rushed he was to save me from this labor, to the point where he just threw on literally whatever was closest at the moment.  He took the scrapper from me and told me to go relax in the car.  I couldn't stop laughing at how he couldn't have just slipped on some tennis shoes which were probably 10 feet away from him.  It cracked me up but at the same time it was the sweetest thing that totally lifted my frantic mood.

The amazing thing about this is, it totally describes Dustin's personality.  He is constantly worrying about my welfare and making sure I am comfortable and happy.  He spoils me way too much.  But the refreshing thing about him is he would do this for anyone.  I have seen him literally run around our apartment complex carrying our neighbors groceries, scraping snow off of strangers cars, shoveling walkways, and just making people feel so so happy with his ridiculously bright and handsome smile.  He really is the sweetest, most generous person and he makes me want to be better every day.

So thank you Dustin for being my Knight in Shining Armor yesterday, and every day.  I think I made a pretty good choice.

Popcorn Mischief

Just wanted to follow up on my sneaking popcorn secret.

This is how we do it.
Step 1: Pop the popcorn
Step 2: Empty popcorn into big plastic bag
Step 3: Stuff it under Dustin's jacket
Step 4: Smile and wave at the security guards while walking into the game
Step 5: Enjoy delicious, exciting, and practically FREE popcorn :)

He's a good sport for pretending to be chubby.   His belly really does look real though, huh?
I know it doesn't look like much, but it really did make me happy all semester.  Hooray for the simple pleasures in life!

Let's Bring It Back

I really do want to get this blog thing started but I have been having a hard time with where I should start in my life.  I want to start at the beginning, like when we first moved in...our Thanksgiving, Christmas, birthdays, etc...but I feel like I missed those window of opportunity!! So what I decided to do is to start writing about our life right now, and have "Flashback Friday's" every once in a while. During these flashbacks I can relive our first 8 months of marriage and let our family know some fun details.
Anyways, that is what I have decided and I feel good about it.  What I don't feel good about is Dustin being gone this weekend.  Actually I consider it more of like a week since he left on Wednesday night.  But I know he's having a blast at the Mountain West Conference with his awesome dad, brothers, and cousins.  They are all BYU's biggest basketball fans and I can just picture them hootin' it up at the games.   To fill my ridiculous amount of time alone I am hanging out with my sis Ashley tomorrow, having a lunch with some girlfriends on Saturday, a ward temple night Saturday night, and attending a lot of work out classes just for fun!  I guess it's bearable :).

...but I still wish I was there with them! I can hoot it up. Plus I learned this semester that I'm really good at sneaking popcorn into games.

Pictures of this will come later :)
